Bed Bug Control Zurich – Professional Treatment
Bed bugs are usually noticed by their traces rather than the insects themselves: rows of bites in the morning, small dark spots on the mattress seam, or shed skins behind the headboard.
They are brought in – from travel, second-hand furniture or a neighbouring flat. That has nothing to do with how clean a home is, and a methodical inspection matters far more than any quick fix.

Signs to look for
- Bites in lines or small clusters, mostly on arms, shoulders and legs
- Dark, ink-like faecal spots along mattress seams and bed slats
- Translucent shed skins behind headboards, in bed frames and skirting joints
- A sweetish, slightly musty smell where the infestation is heavy
Where we usually find them
- Mattress seams, bed frames and slatted bases
- Headboards and the wall area directly behind the bed
- Bedside tables, skirting boards and floor joints
- Sofas, armchairs and upholstered furniture in living rooms
- Suitcases and travel bags after a trip
What to do now
- Leave the bed and the room as they are – do not start moving things around
- Do not sleep in another room; that usually spreads the infestation
- Wash textiles at 60 °C where the fabric allows, or freeze them
- Photograph what you have found and call us to describe it
What to avoid
- Throwing out mattresses or furniture before an inspection
- Over-the-counter sprays and foggers – they scatter the population
- Moving belongings from room to room or to friends and family
Is this urgent?
Nests at entrances, rodents in food areas or a sting risk for allergy sufferers are treated as urgent.
Risks if it is left
- Broken sleep and significant psychological strain over weeks
- Skin reactions and secondary infection from scratching
- Spread into neighbouring rooms and adjoining flats if treatment is delayed
How we handle it
We start with a structured inspection of the whole sleeping area, not just single pieces of furniture, and record where activity is found.
Treatment is chosen to fit the property: heat treatment, targeted application of approved products, or a combination. We explain what needs to be prepared beforehand.
A follow-up check is part of the job. Bed bug eggs are resilient, so a single treatment without verification is not reliable.
Prevention
- After travelling, unpack suitcases outside the bedroom and inspect them
- Check second-hand furniture and mattresses closely before bringing them in
- In apartment buildings, report suspected cases early so adjoining units can be checked
Bed bugs in and around Zurich
Zurich's dense housing, hotels and high volume of travel make introduced infestations common – particularly in the city, around the main station and in the airport area. In apartment buildings we coordinate with the property management so adjoining flats are included.

FAQ
Bed bugs – frequently asked questions
Bed bug bites usually appear in lines or clusters on skin exposed while sleeping, and the traces are found in the bed itself: dark faecal spots on seams and shed skins. Flea bites are more often around the ankles and are linked to pets.
